SG >>> Malacca

##### PUBLIC TRANSPORT #####

It takes about 3.5- 4.0 hours by bus from Singapore (any of the bus stations that ply to Malaysia) to Melaka Sentral. From Melaka Sentral, there are two modes of transport around the city - the *infrequent local bus service and taxis.

*Take bus No. 17 and alight at "Bangunan Merah" stop (it's the Clock Tower at the Dutch Square). Cross the bridge on the opposite side and you'll reach Malacca Chinatown (where Jonker Street is located).

Note:
From Changi Airport, you would have to take a cab or MRT + cab to the bus stations at Singapore depending on the amount of your luggage and the location of the bus station. Do look carefully before purchasing a ticket online.

For the more adventurous and energetic, you can now try:

the Straits cities hopping (minimum 4N/5D)
SINGAPORE --bus--> MALACCA --flight--> PENANG --flight--> SINGAPORE

OR

the beach cities hopping (minimum 6N/7D)
SINGAPORE --bus--> MALACCA --flight--> PENANG --flight--> KRABI --flight--> SINGAPORE

##### PERSONAL VEHICLE #####

By car from Singapore (if you have a good friend, fiancee or hubby who can drive long distance) to Simpang Ampat or Ayer Keroh toll gate.
  • To navigate around Malacca, set your data plan to roaming and use an app called Waze. Check Waze's map against your tourist accommodation's map to ensure that you have selected the right location on Waze.
  • Do remember to purchase the Malacca parking coupon unless you are leaving your car at the hotel's carpark or private carparks which costs from RM1-RM5.
Whenever you meet dangerous or rude drivers at Malacca, try to avoid them by reversing
your car or letting them pass. There is no complaint system to nab errant motorists.
